Overview

The Coffee & Friends Cafe, nestled in the heart of Taman Molek, Johor Bahru, offers a warm and inviting space that effortlessly blends the charm of a neighborhood cafe with the robust flavors of Asian cuisine. This spot caters to those who appreciate a relaxed atmosphere paired with familiar, comforting dishes, making it an ideal place for family outings, casual meet-ups, or even a quiet moment alone.

Among the menu highlights, their asam laksa stands out—a signature Penang-style bowl brimming with tangy, spicy notes and fresh herbs that capture the essence of traditional Malaysian street food. Equally compelling is their nasi lemak, elevated by a perfectly cooked egg that brings subtle creaminess to the fragrant coconut rice dish. For those seeking lighter fare, the sandwich fries set offers a simple yet satisfying option that pairs well with their selection of beverages.

The cafe’s ala carte selections are thoughtfully curated, featuring classics like popcorn chicken and curry chicken that showcase authentic flavors without overwhelming the palate. The handmade noodles, especially the dry Mala Pan Mee topped with tender chicken chop and savory spices, highlight the chef’s dedication to balancing texture and taste in every dish.

Complementing the food is a beverage menu with fresh juices made from vibrant, natural ingredients, alongside a modest but effective coffee and tea lineup. Customers often commend the coffee for its consistency and the calm vibe of the cafe, which invites patrons to linger and savor both their drink and the company.

The physical setting is cozy and unpretentious, inviting guests to unwind in a space that feels both intimate and welcoming. While some mention minor issues like ventilation and toast crispness, the management’s openness to feedback reflects a commitment to ongoing improvement—an encouraging sign for repeat visitors.

Overall, The Coffee & Friends Cafe serves as a dependable haven for those looking to enjoy solid, affordable Asian dishes in a calm environment. It appeals to local families, friends catching up, and anyone in search of a modest but satisfying culinary experience in Johor Bahru.

Stopped by Coffee and Friends in JB without many expectations, and it turned out to be a solid spot for a quick bite. The menu is pretty standard, with familiar options and fair prices, so there’s nothing to really criticize. It’s a decent, laid-back place to relax and grab a coffee or light meal. While nothing stood out as exceptional, it was exactly what we were looking for—a cozy place to unwind and enjoy a simple, casual bite.

Tried one of their Value Sets - Breakfast Set at RM8.90, add 50 sen to upsize Kopi. Coffee was decent. Half Boiled Eggs already cracked open for you; they serve with Kikkoman soy sauce. Kaya Butter Toast could be better though; bread wasn't toasted long enough. Lady boss asked for feedback when I paid, so mentioned this to her. Also the ventilation as some areas of the cafe were a bit warm. Service was great and I believe they'll improve further.
